Week 1
The Challenges of writing finishes when the main idea learned in the reading was that writing actually helps you to discover your message and when you actually write, it helps you to reflect or to say what you really want to say. It was unexpected, I always thought that in order to write you have to have something in mind but it is not the case, you need to write to discover what you want to say, It makes sense since later you can revisit what you are writing and then you can edit. I always wanted to find the way to write, I remember while I was studying back there around 1992 at UNAP, The University from the Peruvian Jungle, I managed to write some poems in Castellano, I always thought it was great to have to power to write and express your ideas the same way you talk, I mean if you do it with the same clarity and if you can make your word meet what you are actually thinking. I remember looking for a local Poet in Iquitos and I remember I managed to interview the guy, I remember collecting some advice from him and recommendations about how to improve my writing. It was useful back then. The challenges of the time and the later decisions I made prevented me from continuing my studies. As the almighty had a plan I would never think, not even in my wildest dream a future studying in a University like BYU - Idaho. I really want to thank those who made this possible, especially my heavenly father. So, something to take into consideration is the video I watched this week, the video was about a great way to learn by observation, I am a self-learner my self, most of the things I learned I learned them by trying, failing, and testing again, perseverance was key for my own learning, doing it without a teacher has his advantages if the teacher is a controller or police but it is a liability if that teacher is a supporter, a guide and a helper that you do not have. Nevertheless, I liked the teacher in the video, he was a scientist himself, he just gave one assignment, Observe the fish, and take notes of what you discover and then take notes. It puts learning into perspective, you are supposed to observe the material of your study and analyze what you are working on, you have to take notes on what you observe, the behavior, the patterns, the history, and then you may pay attention to details and you may end up discovering things that others have not seen. It is then the final product, your conclusion that may add to the knowledge of humanity, it is a great way to study and learn. It is not about memorizing or trusting blindly on what others discovered but it is about what you can learn, discover and apply to your specific circumstances and needs which are going to be basically different.
